Croatia Holidays in Kvarner

The region Kvarner, also named Bay of Kvarner, has a lot to offer in a scenic as well as cultural-historic context. In the north there is the mountain region "Gorski kotar" with its summits of an altitude over 1,500 metres and the Velebit range with an altitude up to 1,700 metres. The deep blue Adriatic Sea and the mountains in the background make up a wonderful scene. The Bay of Kvarner is very popular among yachtsmen and disposes many inviting beaches and lonely bays.

The Bay of Kvarner reaches from Opatija, the so-called "Pearl of Kvarner" to Rijeka, Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski to and south of Senj. Tourism here has a long tradition and people here are famous due to their cheerful nature. Furthermore, this area is the cradle of Croatian Carnival.

The biggest Croatian Island, Krk, attracts many visitors. A bridge connects Krk with the Croatian mainland. In the west of Krk there is the Island Cres (by the way the second biggest island of the region). Cres is connected at its southern side with the smaller Island Losinj via a bridge. Island Rab disposes one of the most beautiful port towns of the region. Further south the elongated Island Pag is situated which also has a bridge-connection onto the mainland.
However, the Kvarner region is not only a destination for beach holidaymakers or yachtsmen. The spacious ski-region in the Gorski kotar Mountain range in the north east of Rijeka is the only place in Europe where the skiier can eye the sea while skiing. In addition the national parks of Risnjak, North Velebit and Lake Plitvice attract people close to nature and searching for repose. My holiday recommendation for you: KVARNER BAY!
